A Call for Change: Gathering of CEOs from the Iran International Innovation Zone, Hosted by Metotec

On April 13, 2025, Metotec Design Lab had the honor of hosting the first CEO gathering of companies operating within the Iran International Innovation Zone for the new year. The event was attended by a number of senior executives from high-tech and knowledge-based companies located in Pardis Technology Park, along with the esteemed presence of Dr. Mohammad-Sadegh Khayyatian, Head of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund.

Introducing Metotec to Senior Members of the Innovation Ecosystem

During the gathering, Saeed Khosravi, founder and CEO of Metotec, presented the lab’s activities and achievements. With over two decades of experience in industrial design, Metotec is recognized as one of the pioneers in innovative product design and development in Iran. The studio draws on diverse expertise in industrial design, architecture, electronics, and mechanical engineering to manage and execute a wide range of projects—from concept to production.

During the session, Mr. Khosravi referred to authoritative reports from institutions such as McKinsey and the Boston Consulting Group, as well as the case of South Korea’s industrial development, to emphasize the critical role of industrial design as a driving force for value creation across various industries.

He also highlighted the importance of positioning the “National Business Development Strategist” as a long-term key role within the roadmap of Iran’s innovation ecosystem for developing a knowledge-based economy.

This role, as he explained, is a unique blend of government leadership, design thinking, and economic diplomacy—capable of steering industry toward global value creation through initiatives such as a “National Branding Week” and “Iran Design Week”

He also went on to present a set of strategic proposals, including:

1. Establishing a National Industrial Design Fund
2. Developing mandatory design standards within government contracts
3. Launching Design and Value Innovation Centers
4. Training human capital based on the POSTECH University model from South Korea
5. Implementing *tax incentive policies* to support design-driven initiatives

Emphasizing the Role of Industrial Design in Knowledge-Based Product Development

Dr. Khayyatian highlighted the critical role of industrial design in the development of knowledge-based products and shared the Innovation and Prosperity Fund’s plans to support active companies in this field. He announced the allocation of a credit line to the Fund for the Development of Advanced Technologies, located within the Innovation Zone, which member companies can now benefit from.

Towards Stronger Connections within the Innovation Ecosystem

Metotec’s role as host of this event provided a valuable opportunity for direct engagement with key figures from the technology ecosystem and representatives of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund. This gathering laid the groundwork for future collaborations and strengthened connections across Iran’s growing innovation landscape.
